Travelling Cloud

Nothing on earth appears more divine yet attests more fully to the materiality of being than clouds - emblems of the water cycle that makes this rocky planet a living world, drifting across our shared dome.

A short film, directed and shot by Noah Carter.

Painting on large un-primed cloth enables the artworks to float freely, like clouds themselves. The artworks are shaped through the dexterity and control of the fluidity of the paint solutions which I make up myself. Hues of blues, pinks, whites bleed into one another, creating expanses of densely coloured paint, depicting a sense of volume and space.

Billowing clouds are a reminder of the immense forces of nature. Capturing the sensation of light falling on the landscape or travelling through the atmosphere has intrigued and informed my process. Pinning down the shifting veils of light and vapour through a monochromatic palette.
